Congratulations to Kyra Teetzen, recipient of the Quesnel Sports Athletic Hall of Fame award. Kyra received the award on April 12, 2016 for the 2015 North American and Canadian National Biathlon Championship, which took place on March 9-15, 2015. Kyra placed 1st in the Senior Girls 7.5 km Mass Start/Individual Race Division. The award plaque can be viewed on the wall for the Quesnel Sports Athletic Hall of Fame at the Quesnel Arena.
The Ginzu was purchased as backup snow groomer with the financial support of the Quesnel Community Foundation. It is used with a snowmobile to prepare the snow for lessons and general skiing without the use of the much larger Pisten Bully. This equipment will be valuable particularly for the Youth Ski Program. The daily requirement to groom the snow in the stadium and adventure park areas requires us to have an alternate to prepare the snow. The large groomer used daily on the teaching area would cause the snow to deteriorate from overuse. Also, the CSTC requires a backup in case of mechanical problems with the large machine. A small light groomer cannot always be used but when it can it does offer significant advantages:
The Cariboo Ski Touring Club gratefully acknowledges the support of the Quesnel Community Foundation to complete this project. The continuous support of the Foundation in the building and operation of the public winter recreation facility at Hallis Lake is very much appreciated.
